One of the other reasons we’re not focusing on only boy bands during the Bad Pop Wednesday sections? Someone else is already doing it. Hotttt.
Okay. Sure. But why?
July 24, 2008I want to draw everyone’s attention to this.
And then I want to ask, why?
Muggles must amuse themselves somehow
July 24, 2008
The first time my brother visited Middlebury, he was there for an improv festival, before I had even begun the short streak of my education there. Sometime around one in the morning, I got a phone call from him. “I just walked across your campus,” he told me, “and I swear to god, I did not purposefully touch a thing, but I’m pretty sure I’m high.”
I think it was an accurate introduction to the place. A place so high, either on life or something more illicit, a place so filled with the quirky oddballs of the nerd-world that only they could come up with something like this.
Brideshead Revisited
July 24, 2008I love Brideshead Revisited. The novel is an integral part of me I have read it so many times. Yes, the 1980s mini-series may have clouded my view of the novel when I first read it since the mini-series was always on at my house when my brother and I were growing up. Indeed, my brother as a two year old endeavoured to name a teddy bear he received as a gift Aloysius. Try getting a two year old to say Aloysius.
But the mini-series was incredibly true to the book. And the influence of the mini-series didn’t affect my reading for long as I kept re-reading the book and discovering new layers and complexities. Literary criticism of Waugh also helped form my opinions, as did reading Waugh’s other, sinfully delicious satires.
That’s why I have a bit of a problem with this.
