Proven: Muppets are real.

I have to say, apart from all the insanity that the Icelandic volcano is causing for people wanting to get to and around Europe, I’m pretty excited that there’s a volcano in the news. I like volcanoes. They’re exciting and unpredictable and change landscapes and are slightly less common than earthquakes. I also just really enjoyed making model volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar for science class as a kid.
This is all to say, watch this video all the way through. It’s mezmerizing and fascinating, and there’s some really cool stuff at the end.

Without leaving Charlottesville!
If you do no other procrastinating today, watch this video. Because wow.

Apparently today is cake day. That is just fine with me. Fridays should always be cake days.
Anyway, check out this ridiculously awesome and nerdy sci-fi cake. The Alien Film Festival idea was brilliant and the characters are amazing. I really want to start a corporation called Bad Wolf. What? Doctor Who is finally the new season in the States this weekend!

So, I was perusing the Charm City Cakes blog today (what? you don’t want Mary Alice to be your best friend? liar.) and found this awesome picture of a groom’s cake created by Ben & Elena:
I couldn’t stop laughing. I love me some Strong Bad and I really, really love the idea of Strong Bad dressed up for a wedding. I will be giggling to myself for the next half hour, in case you were wondering.

Have you seen this chick’s blog yet? Because you should. I want to be best friends with her.
Yeah. There’s now Hello Kitty wine. And a cutesy website too. You’d think I’d be outraged against this because I want to keep wine in good standing. But…um…I have been won over by the cuteness. I am a sucker for kawaii. I fail. Sorry. Plus, you know, they’re Italian wines, not French, so I don’t really care all that much anyway. I’m not saying I don’t drink Italian wine (waaaay too many bottles of prosecco in my past to count), but I don’t feel the need to defend it as much. Or, I’m just as obsessed with the damn cat as my fellow St. Louisan, Kimora Lee.
If my family is reading this, I would like a bottle to celebrate my birthday. Thank you in advance since I will be too drunk on the pink stuff to thank you on my bday.

I have not posted much of late. It is because I’ve been using this tool, again and again, stringing them together and calling it “a thesis.”
Pity I’m not a political scientist. It would totally fly for them. Zing!
(Oh my god, what has academia done to me?)

This is hilarious, even if you’re not an analyst. If you’ve ever worked under crazy management-types, you will find this so familiar that you will either die laughing or crying.

I like themes. Today is Star Trek day for me, apparently. The Q & Data pic reminded me of this lovely clip from Extras with Patrick Stewart. Engage!

So everyone’s talking about the iPad, blah blah blah. But want to see something really cool and totally nerdy involving the iPad? Check out this. Yeah. I am so nerdy that this interested me. I mean, come on! The future is here! The iPad is exactly like the console that Data used to tap to get the Enterprise to do cool things like go into warp speed. And now the guy who played Data is tapping on an iPad! IT BLOWS MY MIND.
I really should stop letting the entire world know how incredibly geeky I am.

I think if I had all the time in the world, and all the talent and money, I would probably aspire to write the Animal Review, and not just because they’re getting a book published.
These guys are not always right. For instance, snails should have gotten a WAY better grade.
But they win on both excellent use of captions and footnotes outside academia, and for accuracy on the awesomeness of moose.

Aimee Mann and Ice T just had a Twitter duel. Apparently she insulted his acting and he didn’t like that so much…
(It’s totally entertaining enough for weekend posting.)

Look! Look!! Newsies on Broadway! I bet the new Jack will even be able to sing.
And you thought the subject line was an exaggeration.
I don’t post on weekends for exaggerations.
