“Nobody can see more than 1 per cent of all the art produced in Britain every week. So just select something so obscure that nobody else has heard of it – and wax lyrical. Just like this column does, most weeks.” -Richard Morrison
Thank god for Richard Morrison. On Saturday, he presented us with “Six Golden Tips of Blathering” to get us through cocktail parties without sounding like we know nothing about the arts. Not really a problem I have as a cultural and art historian who works in and writes about the arts and can kick ass at Trivial Pursuit (actually, no, I don’t have an ego…it grew too large and ate itself years ago). However, I’d like to think Richard’s advice could help some. Though, I’m pretty sure he’ll just amuse most.
